My Three Things: Western Civilization, White Culture, Racism
Felon trump’s minions are running around Europe claiming to be defenders of Western Civilization. Rubio and others are defending “White Culture”, not Western Civilization. Europe mainly classifies people by nationality, not race, language, or skin color.
White culture is racist culture and fully a product of the USA. Fascist MAGA and felon trump are attempting to justify the USA’s white racism using Western Civilization. Nothing could be further from the truth. In the United States, the term white developed to support the American institutions of slavery and state segregation. English settlers opposed immigration from elsewhere in Europe. Way back in 1750, Benjamin Franklin voiced concern that German immigrants would replace English customs and language in Pennsylvania.
Old Ben considered almost any non-English European as swarthy. However, Ben Franklin, a former slave owner, recanted his views in later life. As more immigrants from all over the globe arrived, to maintain dominance, the original settlers scurried to update who slaveholders defined as “white.” The definition of white kept changing and by mid-last century even Irish, Italians, and Jews had become white. Meanwhile, Europe was a plethora of countries, speaking different languages and holding values like individual liberty, democracy, human rights, secularism, and scientific inquiry. Values strongly opposed by fascist MAGA and failing felon trump.
Our failing felon is a proven racist, just note his 1975 settlement with the government for refusing to rent to people of color. Little has changed since. From his attempts to erase the evils of slavery and segregation, as well as the accomplishments of Black Americans, to his false claims to be defending the rights of “white people,” our failing felon represents all that is not Western Civilization but rather homegrown USA racism.
Do not tolerate racism. Support individual liberty, democracy, human rights, secularism, and scientific inquiry.
