My Three Things: Pornography, Freedom, Strange Heroes
Growing up in a blue-collar section of a blue-collar city, I knew prostitutes, gangsters, and hustlers of all types. Later, attending a prestigious school like Colgate University, I met secretaries of state, prime ministers, and senators among many other notables. I saw the difference between these two groups of individuals, up close and personal. That difference was opportunity. The opportunity to thrive or fail. Too often for those on the bottom of our society’s social pyramid, the opportunity to thrive is denied.
Conservatives lash out at the threats posed by pornography, abortion, and trans people, but do not be fooled. Their outrage is but a veiled effort to keep the masses divided and entertained. As the Epstein scandal demonstrates, the uber-wealthy have the same propensity for scandal, crime, and sin as any other group.
I see pornography and abortion as canaries in the coal mine of a free society. Freedom is never stolen from the people at the strong center but rather gradually at the fringes. Just as conservatives gave up directly attacking gays, now they target trans people hoping the resistance will not be as strong. This is why I resist attempts to ban fringe groups. Isolation and groupthink are fascist tools seeking to control us. Strange as it may seem, individuals like Stormy Daniels, abortion providers, and librarians are American heroes leading the fight against tyranny and for freedom. Learn from them for they already know the struggle.
No justice, No peace
As the fascist MAGA state sets in, we can learn much from the fringes of our society
